To avoid punishment for vandalism, Taylor's coerced into pitching for her high school baseball team. Recapturing her love for the game, Taylor forges new relationships with her best friend and her surly father. Such trite observations as "the game of life is hard, but that's also what makes it great" mar the writing, though there's some exciting baseball action.
