Disaster hits the set of a zombie movie Frank and Joe are extras in (Deception) and valuable animals disappear from the Bayport Aquarium (Shadows). As expected, the boys solve mysteries that baffle the police. A blizzard strands Frank and Joe at a ski resort that has been struggling for business. Though they just want to relax and stay away from trouble, they can't help investigating a series of suspicious mishaps that are endangering the guests. While the characters remain flat, fans of this modernized series or others in the Hardy Boys franchise won't mind.

When kids start disappearing without a trace from the new ride at the local amusement park, the park owner and his daughter call in the Hardy Boys to investigate. But just when it looks like they've solved the case, another disappearance sends them back into action. The installments are cleanly written, quick reads, but the characters and stories still lack depth. Review covers these Hardy Boys Adventures titles: Into Thin Air and The Vanishing Game.
