While making couscous, Nora's baba (father) serves up a story from his Moroccan childhood. Sent outside to wait for the butter man, the hungry boy observes everything around him. Invitingly warm gouache folk art, in dry browns for the Morocco flashbacks and in blues, greens, and purples for the present-day scenes, beckons the reader to slow down and consider each painting's details. Glos.
