This biography of the Pulitzer Prize–winning author details her childhood, early adult years dabbling in art and photography, and later years as poet, writer, and professor. Brown relies greatly on Welty's own writing, extending the narrative with numerous quotes; family photos (some poorly reproduced) enhance the presentation.
