Gorgeous girl Freya time travels back to the 1980s from decades in the future, and she must learn to cope with eighties music while figuring out the how and why of her sudden situation. Too-frequent dialogue that behaves as exposition and uneven pacing are flaws mitigated by a cool premise and a steamy, well-developed romance.

Seventeen-year-old Breckon is barely functioning after his sister's death. Newly deceased Ashlyn has no idea who or where--or even what--she is. Chapters alternating between their points of view convey much about the ways people feel after losing a loved one. Martin gradually pieces together the puzzle of how the two stories intersect and shows that, in whatever form, life goes on.

Fifteen-year-old Finn's best friend, Audrey, is away for the summer, leaving Finn alone to deal with her parents' marriage problems and her crappy summer job. Finn's childhood friend Jersy is there for her, though, and a romance quickly blossoms--unfortunately, Jersy's also Audrey's boyfriend. It's very soap-operaish, but Finn's a sympathetic character whose believable emotions tone down the melodrama.
