While he dreams, David can travel back in time as a ghost, which is a good thing if he is going to stop others with similar abilities from changing history and wiping him out. Though the plot is predictable and slow at times, the sense of danger is palpable and the supernatural and science fiction elements are well balanced.

A brother thinks his sister's guinea pig is a boring pet. He'd much rather have a pet dog, bear, dragon, or countless other interesting animals. Predictably, he discovers that guinea pigs are "really fun after all" (and great at playing hide-and-seek). Illustrations of the boy's imagined "much more fun" creatures are "much more exciting" than the lackluster story.

Clovis is "the fiercest, most roaringest tiger in the whole world." While the jungle animals peacefully go about their business, Clovis routinely disturbs them with his gigantic roar. Retribution comes when the animals surprise Clovis with a collective trumpet, screech, and squawk. Although the text is slight, preschoolers will happily identify with pesky Clovis. The book is illustrated with friendly, funny, animal-filled scenes.
