Nazareth Hidalgo Lobo.
Environmental activist Christiana Figueres grew up in the mountains of Costa Rica, watching animals such as toucans and sloths. Her father was the country’s president and backed conservation efforts. She became a diplomat who educated world leaders about the threat of climate change. A huge conference she organized led to many different countries vowing to work together to improve the planet. The colored-pencil and marker illustrations are a bit cartoonish, but Engle’s simple prose may inspire future environmentalists.
