This book focuses on thirteen-year-old Iman's life as a dance student at the Ailey School in New York. The first-person text fills in details, moving from dance studio to school and home and back to dance class, culminating in a group performance. Clear photographs illustrate the camaraderie of the students and the joy Iman feels while dancing.
