Black Stars in a White Night Sky

(3) YA Illustrated by Sherwin Tjia. The topics of these poems range from the concrete to the abstract, from nonsensical to thoughtful. While the volume doesn't seem entirely certain of its audience, the author is a sure hand at creating rhythm with well-chosen, often surprising words that play with perceptions. Nicely shaded black-and-white illustrations quietly complement the tone of these quirky poems.
