Cameron and the Girls

(2) YA Cameron has three voices in his head: the Professor offers sensible bromides, the Other Guy urges dangerous behavior, the Girl is sensuous and gentle. Medications silence all those voices, leaving Cameron bereft. Averett treads a narrow path here, remaining sympathetic to Cameron while not romanticizing schizophrenia. This novel is a nuanced treatment of a difficult topic, sustained by narrative drive.
