As Carmine bikes to Granny's for alphabet soup ("beware" of dangers), she stops (diverted by the "exquisite" light) to paint Granny a picture--and so on. The ending is silly, and some of the alphabetical choices are more apt than others. But the sunny mixed-media art, sparked with reds, tells the story beautifully.
