Doubling and Multiplying

(4) K-3 Basic Math series. The simple text ("Pretend that you have 4 leaves and give 1 away") is well supported by clear photographs of the everyday objects (shells, pencils, rocks, etc.) being added, subtracted, multiplied, and divided. However, the books miss out on a no-brainer kinesthetic tie-in by failing to suggest that children gather and work directly with the leaves and other items being illustrated. Ind. Review covers these Basic Math titles: Adding and Counting On, Doubling and Multiplying, Sharing and Dividing, and Subtracting and Taking Away.
