INTERMEDIATE FICTION
Horvath, Polly

Everything on a Waffle

(1) 4-6 After Primrose Squarp loses her parents in a typhoon, she's shifted from one neglectful caregiver to another, suffers two serious accidents, and is placed in foster care. Primrose retains an unshakable belief that her parents will return, and, by gum, in a hallelujah chorus of an ending, they do. Subtlety and slapstick is a challenging combination; Horvath pulls it off beautifully.
