Fish for the Grand Lady

(3) K-3 Brothers Colly and Derrick go fishing to get their grandmother, "Grand Lady," a fish, in this story set in Trinidad, the Caribbean island where the author grew up. Throughout, the dialogue is written in dialect, adding to the rhythm but making a potentially awkward first read (a glossary is included at the end). The dark, lush, realistic paintings exude the warmth of the island.
