Laugh-Out-Loud Baby

(2) PS Illustrated by Stephen Gammell. A family throws a party in celebration of the "small spill of happiness" that pours out when the baby laughs for the first time. In an author's note Johnston credits inspiration for her mirth fest to a Navajo tradition called a First Laugh Ceremony. Gammell's free-spirited illustrations depict the multi-generational brood with idiosyncratic fashion sense and rollicking good humor.
