Mary's Wild Winter Feast

(4) K-3 Illustrated by Nobu Koch & Clarissa Rizal. Mary is sick of living in rainy Juneau, Alaska, but her dad shows her jars of food such as seaweed, halibut, and blueberries in their pantry that help her appreciate the bounty of their homeland. The story's subject is unique, and while the animation-style art is murky and slick, Rizal's Tlingit collage overlays are bright and add a sense of place.
