Mucumber McGee and the Half-Eaten Hot Dog

(4) K-3 After desperately hungry Mucumber eats a raw hot dog, his sister convinces him he'll die. Their mother brings an end to Mucumber's suffering when she tells him if he "only looked, / the package says clearly: / Hot dogs are precooked!" Gothic illustrations play up Mucumber's fears, but rhythmically irregular verse detracts from the humor in his lamentations.
