Hedgehog thinks about how dark Rabbit's burrow must be; Rabbit thinks about how scared Hedgehog must be sleeping out in the open. Each comes up with (what he thinks is) the perfect gift for the other. Riddell's illustrations give these two characters lots of expression and extend the story's humor.
