Stone, Phoebe

The Boy on Cinnamon Street

(2) 4-6 Narrator Louise lives with her grandparents, has two best friends, and loves pizza. As the narrative progresses, Louise lets additional facts slip out: mention of her mother makes everyone sad, and she suffered a terrible trauma she doesn't allow herself to remember. Stone's control of her narrative is expert; the way she brings the various elements together is unexpected and emotional.
