The Calling

(4) 4-6 After she is "called of the Lord" and receives the gift of healing, Esta Lea goes on a healing crusade with her newly saved uncle, Peter Earl, whom she suspects of embezzling from the offering plate. Though the novel's tone is uneven, the irreverent portrait of a rowdy Southern family is funny, and Esta Lea's earnest faith and miracles of healing are respectfully portrayed.
