The Heartless Troll

(1) 4-6 Translated by Kari Dickson. After the full-page introduction to this contemporary (loose) retelling of Norwegian folktale "The Troll with No Heart in His Body," dialogue and illustrations fill in the background as Prince Fred sets off to rescue his six older brothers and their wives, all turned to stone by a troll. Despite gory details in Torseter's art, plenty of humor keeps the one-of-a-kind graphic novel from being too scary.
