Bowsell's onomatopoeic text begs to be read aloud ("clatter clatter SLAP!" "splish splish WHACK!"). Velasquez's illustrations of Jazmin with braids flying and legs leaping high show the girl's determination to bring a little sunshine to her neighbors.
