He can't understand why no one seems to notice his sparkling shoes, but he soon gets involved in the work of the round-up. The other cowhands finally compliment Tyler when his boots show the scars of a job well done. The story offers plenty of details about contemporary cow handling, and the paintings, though sometimes awkwardly rendered, set the stage for the text.
