Useful Idiots

(4) YA Starting with a body uncovered by the tide, this sci-fi tale painstakingly discloses the mystery of the body's death, building up a heart-pounding conspiracy in a vividly imagined future society in which archaeology is frowned on. The abrupt and irrelevant conclusion leaves the entire conspiracy framework hanging and undermines the excellent groundwork and compelling protagonist.
