(4) K-3 Illustrated by Henry Cole. Duckling Five, born with a rubber leg (his mom ate a rubber band), ignores taunts about his unducky-ness. He's most helpful when danger is near, saving the farm animals from a hungry fox. The Ugly Duckling theme is all too familiar, but the text reads aloud well ("Bing-boing!"). Acrylic and ink illustrations lend emotion and humor to the action.
