In the third book, Peggy Fitzroy returns to her role as a palace spy, this time bringing along her cousin Olivia. Peggy's duties become complicated as her aunt is accused of treachery; she gains sympathy for old rivals; and the true identity of Peggy's patron is revealed. The eighteenth-century London court remains lushly built, but there's limited action in this subdued adventure.

Threatened by her betrothed, Sebastian, and her bitter uncle, Peggy Fitzroy, a maid of honor and spy in King George's court, finds herself a pawn in a larger plot to uncover Jacobite traitors. Zettel employs the elements that made the first installment such an appealing historical mystery, but frivolous conflict and slow-going action may test readers' patience in this second book.

Zettel brings the mythology of the Celtic fairy tradition into 1930s Hollywood; the cold glitter of the fairy courts acts as a parallel to the tawdry glitz of Hollywood fame.
