Leopardpox!

(4) K-3 Illustrated by Omer Hoffman. When kindergartner Sadie turns into a leopard, Mama appeals to her pediatrician (he's reproachful), a veterinarian (he's flummoxed), and a zoo (upon seeing Sadie's intended cage: "'No!' Mama roared"). The quirky, vaguely retro-style illustrations suit the eccentric story, which has an improvisational quality. Sadie's problem anticlimactically resolves itself, but Landau successfully makes her point about the unconditionality of parental love.
