Ruby and the Muddy Dog

(4) PS Ruby's pets have trouble minding. Dog makes muddy footprints in the house and blames them on his friends. Hippo is too noisy. While Dog, caught in the act, gets a good-natured rebuke for fibbing, Hippo's noisiness eventually makes him a hero. Both books lack much substance but feature warm characters; the illustrations are bright and spare. Didacticism makes Muddy Dog less successful than its companion volume.
