This collection of five stories about Jewish neighbors Sam (boy), Charlie (girl), and Charlie's sister, "Sam Too," includes their first meeting, the trio sharing the last hamentaschen, a sick day, a bad haircut, and "I'm Sorry Day" (Yom Kippur). Although there are religious lessons, the stories are more playful than preachy. The boy-girl friendship is refreshingly light, enhanced by expressive, cartoony illustrations.
