Raul Colon.
Jerilyn and Jesse react to the sudden death of their older brother in a series of paired poems that effectively chart their journey from shock and anger to acceptance and healing. Jerilyn's free-verse poems tend to be abstract, while Jesse's rhymed poems are often banal ("Saturday is here at last. / Time for soccer! What a blast"). Colón's textured color art offers an effective counterpoint.
