In a satisfying resolution, Jackson rescues a stray kitten one winter's day and gives her the blanket to use in her bed.

Every time it's about to snow, Alice feels it somewhere--in her toe, her nose, or her elbow. None of her neighbors believes her predictions, and Alice is the only one ready for the storms. The story is quaint, though long; and although the illustrations have some errors, such as the moon shining during a snowstorm, they are whimsical.

Though her day starts off badly--a trip to the beach when she'd rather be playing with friends, and an apartment-wide search that turns up only one shoe--Penny salvages it by making ingenious use of her sole flip-flop to find a seaside playmate. Casual gouache and colored pencil illustrations work to make this unassuming tale a satisfying one.
